Ethical Principles and Publication Policy
I. Editorial Policy and Ethical Standards
The Avicenna Anatolian Journal of Medicine is committed to adhering to the highest standards of editorial integrity and ethical publishing, as defined by the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) Board of Directors. The journal follows the ethical guidelines and workflows outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for addressing potential scientific misconduct and breaches of publication ethics (www.publicationethics.org).
Manuscripts must comply with the ICMJE Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals (http://www.icmje.org/icmje-recommendations.pdf). Authors are also required to prepare manuscripts in accordance with the relevant reporting guidelines, such as:
- CONSORT for randomized controlled trials
- STROBE for observational studies
- STARD for diagnostic accuracy studies
- PRISMA for systematic reviews
- MOOSE for meta-analyses of observational studies
- ARRIVE for experimental animal studies
- TREND for non-randomized public behavior studies
The Avicenna Anatolian Journal of Medicine complies with the ethical principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki (http://www.wma.net/en/30publications/10policies/b3/index.html). Consequently:
- For studies involving human participants, ethics committee approval must be obtained and clearly stated in the Materials and Methods section. Patients and volunteers should be fully informed about the procedures, and their written consent must be obtained and noted in the manuscript.
- For animal studies, the manuscript must specify adherence to the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (www.nap.edu/catalog/5140.html), along with ethics committee approval from the relevant institution. Upon request, authors may need to provide the editor with a copy of the ethics committee approval.
Authors guarantee that the manuscript has not been published in any other language or journal without prior consent from the Avicenna Anatolian Journal of Medicine. If the manuscript has been previously presented at a scientific meeting, this should be disclosed, along with the meeting name, date, and location.
Ethics committee approval is mandatory for all Original Research Articles and may also be required for certain Case Reports. The concepts and recommendations presented in the manuscript are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not reflect the views of the Editor or the Editorial Board.
Authorship
All listed authors must meet the authorship criteria defined by the ICMJE and make a substantial contribution to the manuscript. Each author must take responsibility for their portion of the manuscript and the work as a whole.
II. Publication Ethics and Plagiarism
The Publishing Board of the Avicenna Anatolian Journal of Medicine adheres to the ethical standards established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal strictly follows the COPE flowcharts and workflows to address ethical issues, including plagiarism.

- All submitted manuscripts are subjected to plagiarism screening using reliable detection software, such as:
The acceptable similarity rates are as follows:
